As you might know we've become a stockist for Ainsty Castings in the US. They carry a wide variety of terrain from scatter terrain, and vehicles, to big modular pieces for buildings and dungeons of a similar type to Dwarven Forge's offerings. They produce so much in fact that we can't really afford to bring it all over at once. So with Ainsty's recommendations we're bringing over a selection of just over one hundred of his best sellers to start with.

This starter wave will arrive in three shipments over the next month or so, the first of which can be seen here in the webstore. Please take a look at what's available and what's coming soon. So, Ainsty has decided that they're looking for stockists and distributers over here in the States, and we're looking to throw our hat into this particular ring.

For those who don't know Ainsty produces a large number of pretty neat resin terrain items. Such a large number in fact that it's kind of impossible for us to carry it all at first. Our initial thought is to focus on their modern and sci-fi lines (or whatever they tell us is their best seller :) ).

Of course we want to serve our customers as best we can, so we'd like to ask the Amerikaners in the audience what they'd like to see brought over. I'll be checking this post every so often so please feel free to drop us a line whenever.

Been too long since I last did one of these, but I hope to get these out more regularly now that convention season is over for the year. So here we have a pair of sabertooth cats from Trent's DeeZee line.

I've also put up a new item in our painted terrain section: A set of 28mm Roman tents from Acheson Creations. The camp set includes one large Roman officer's tent and four smaller troop tents for $75.00 USD. These would make for a nice centerpiece set-up for an ancients skirmish game, or maybe as a base camp for an archaeological expedition for you pulp guys.

Not much of a release really, but we have a number of Tiger's new Renaissance Landsknechts line in the webstore here. I'm waiting to get them painted until I do the real announcement.

Also Tiger's Afghan Regulars (NWF04 and up) and possibly the Dutch Colonials will be discontinued. If you're interested in either you might want to get some now.

The main news item though is that due to some restructuring over at Ramshackle Games we can no longer get wholesale prices on his products. This means we'd have to raise prices and with sales already slow we've decided to stop carrying Ramshackle's vehicles and figures. Nothing against Curtis or his product (we wouldn't have started carrying it if we didn't like it) it's just no longer really economically feasible to continue.

So as of right now all Ramshackle stock in the webstore is on sale at up to 30% off until it's all sold off.

Okay, this is something I've been working with on and off for a bit. It started out as something else, but turned out to be too small for a regular 15mm figure. :)

Widest point (fireplace to door): 55mm Dome Width: 45mm Height: 25mm

Comparison with a Splintered Light Irish spearman and a

GW LoTR Bilbo Baggins.

There's some problems the photos are showing me that I want to fix, and the bottom edge of it is going to be squared off. I was also thinking about putting a ring of stone or brick around the bottom of the dome. There are probably going to be some variants, accessories, and such to go with it and a 28mm version down the road.

There's definitely no chance to have an interior space with this model, so what do you guys think of a seperate piece to stand in for the interior space with low walls and some furniture? Like a hobbity Space Hulk or something?

Let me know what you think. Especially about future additions to a fantasy scenery line.

Been a little longer than I wanted since the last one of these, so here's a big one.

The Stinger, painted to help promote Nuclear Renaissance's

boxed set. We're out of stock for this now unfortunately.

Lastly the Iron Grumber. Fresh painted this weekend.

Here with an old GW Ork for comparison.

My first thought was to go Blood Axe for the color scheme,

but nothing leapt to mind so Goff it was. :)

It's bigger than a GW Rhino for sure.

My only problems with the kit are that it just has one

access hatch and the smokestacks are really fragile.

Skiff Passenger Compartment Size

Thanks for the support guys. We're hoping sales of the skiff are good as I'd like to produce alot more flyers and figures in this vein.

For a question on TMP I just checked it with several sized slotta bases and none of them can fit side by side. You need a base size about 15mm or 5/8s of an inch to do that.

For 25mm and 30mm bases you can fit three figures in the passenger compartment with one standing on the lockers in back. With 20mm bases you can fit four guys with the last one's base right at the edge.

From our preview blogpost: "Body dimensions are 185mm spar to end of railings and 50mm wide. Passenger compartment is 80mm by 35mm."

28mm Sci-fi Skiff Display Workup

I was going to put up a store update today, but late last night we found we had a couple of packages still sitting on the front porch. One of which was the 28mm version of the skiff! This post includes the build of the display model, some comparisons, and a word on cast quality.

Here are the components; each kit includes two railings, a

control stick, chair, body, and engine cowling.

Body dimensions are 185mm spar to end of railings and 50mm wide.

Passenger compartment is 80mm by 35mm.

I'll come back to this again, but you'll notice some filled in areas. My

policy is to take the worst cast items to fix up and paint for display.

Casts we send to customers will be of better quality.

On to the assembly. Glue the joystick to the cowling console,

and then glue the cowling to the body. Easy enough.

The fiddliest bit is glueing the railings on. The holes on either

side of the console were where you plugged the old resin

railings into the cowling so just ignore them.

Also make sure the railings are straight before you glue them on.

They are robust enough once glued in, but being thin can be bent

easily unsupported.

You can glue the chair in at this point. However, I'd suggest leaving

it off for painting if you want to use it. (It's intended primarily as a

rest for standing pilots.)

Here is a comparison shot with some popular Martian lines.

The skiff is designed to reasonably carry light cargo or up to six passengers.

It will only hold two or three figures on 25-30mm bases however.

Finally a note about casting quality. The picture below represents

the worst quality we'll be sending out.

Imperfections in this batch of castings are minor and almost

entirely on the underside of the body. Most will be easily taken

care of with a drop of glue or a good coat of paint. We just

wanted to be upfront with this as I know it will be an issue for

some people.

Thanks for looking. The skiff will be available this Tuesday for a price of $20 USD. We will also be offering and assembled and primed versions for $25 USD in either black or white.

Here we have a 15mm small flier inspired by the John Carter of Mars books perfect for pulp gaming. It's comes in four metal pieces (bottom plate, engine cowl, and two sidewalls) and it's cabin will fit two figures based on U.S. pennies or 3/4" washers; and up to eight 15mm figures unbased. It is priced at $16 USD and can be purchased here.

As of this posting we do not have flight stands for it, and if you want to use Litko's 3mm flight stands the peg hole on the bottom will have to be widened a smidge. We are currently working on an accessory pack with crew, a swivel gun, forward firing mounted gun and some cargo. There is also a 28mm version at the casters and should be released soon.

Trent Up In the Webstore

War Rocket Imperials Filled Out

A new package from Hydra has come in containing a new Galacteer character, the new Slishians, and the Imperial size 3 and 4 War Rocket ships. All will be available at Cold Wars and soon after on the website.

Unfortunately I don't believe we have any War Rocket rule books. I'm not sure how that fact managed to get by us. There's a chance we'll get some more before the show, we'll see.

Update: We've gotten the books in, and have a pretty good stock of just about everything.

I've put up the civilians as packs here and as single figures here.

The packs include one with all eight figures with arm sprues for $18 and one with two copies of each body and one of each arm sprue so you can make both versions for $36. Singles are available for $2.50.

The tikis and fetishes are available as packs and singles here.

They are $2.50 each, $10 for a pack of four, or $18 for all eight currently available. I know I said they'd be a slight bit cheaper, but there is quite a bit of metal in some of these. They cost more to produce than our regular figures in fact.

We've also got three new Tiger Miniatures packs, 20th Century Naval figures based on the US Navy's "Sand Pebbles". And we've put up ProCreate Terrain putty at the bottom of the paints and tools page.

Civilian Masters

A couple of days ago we got in a new box of masters in from the casters; soon we'll be

releasing some multipart modern civilians and some tikis/fetishes for pulp gaming.

Unfortunately the tikis are proving uncooperative when it comes to photography, so

they'll be up when I get them painted. Until then:

Estimated time of release is sometime around Cold Wars. I'm thinking they

could be sold as singles, a pack of one of each, and a pack of two of each body

with one set of weapons sprue. This should be the start of a busy year for us.

Diecast Pulp Cars

We always look for interesting things to carry or produce here at Recreational Conflict, especially things that support the lines we already have.. Recently we've found a supply of Lledo Days Gone By cars and trucks appropriate for Interwar and Pulp type games. Mostly in 28mm though we have a few 15-20mm sized trucks and buses. They did pretty well for us at the Fall-In show, and again when we put them up online a week or two back. And yes, I know, I need to update here more often.

We have close to three dozen models available so take a look. Stock levels will vary considerably as these models are out of print (at least as far as I can tell) and we're limited to what we can find. Here's a couple of comparison pics from the site:

Killer B's Lost Legion

Here's a selection of Killer B's new Lost Legion figures for his GAFDOZ line.

I love these figures, they remind me alot of the Jack Kirby's comic book creations and have an odd reality about them for a retro sci-fi military force. I'm definitely going to pick up a platoon of these guys for myself when I get the time.

First Wave Xenomorphs

These are Pendraken Warrior Aliens in 10mm but easily used for 15mm aliens. The pics are slightly out of date, they've really picked up over the last few shows and I've only got a hand full left.

The face huggers are just the right size for the 28mm scale.

There are four variants of the medium sized aliens and one small type.

Here's a pic of one pack of each code, minus on of the medium warrior codes.

Finally a close up of the queen model, about 20mm tall.

I plan on ordering more from Pendraken to paint for sale at next year's shows both as single bases (maybe on movie style wasteland bases) and on Flames of War bases for things like Future War Commander. If anyone reading would like some get in contact with me. Queens are $3 USD each, all others are $2 USD each.

Release Update

I'll start posting some more pics of products and things later in the week. I know it's been a little bit since I last updated.

Anyone who's kept track of us before knows we've got a few models that have been in production for an unusual amount of time. Two vehicles, a flying skiff in the style of Edgar Rice Burroughs Barsoom, a disk shaped fighter craft, and the deep diver hardsuit.

The bottleneck has been our caster who, while a nice and apparently hardworking individual, has decided that his time is better spent working in the jewelry market. While I can't blame him for this (heck I agree with him that jewelry is probably much more lucrative than miniatures) the fact that he waited so long, hanging onto our masters for twelve or so months without producing any worthwhile numbers of any of these models is a real kick in the teeth. Especially since he only told us this at Fall-In, where he promised to deliver the agreed upon amounts in full.

So now we're looking at getting Old Glory Shipyards to do the resin casting, and potentially doing the hardsuit all in metal, which will solve the resin casting problems that have plagued it's production. Of course that will raise the cost, and make the models a little harder to work with.

That's where we are with these models now, and they're in the hands of people we know will get them done at least. We have a number of Hardsuits available now, but I don't know if we'll be offering the fighter or the skiff until next year.

And next year should be much better for releases. We've got several packs planned for Lead Bones (with one about to be sent in for molding) as well as more vehicles, and the beginning of a terrain line. We've got more plans of course, but nothing definite yet.

War Rocket Demo Fleets

Wednesday night of last week I threw these fleets together for display and demoing Hydra Miniature's War Rocket game at Rock-Con and Fall-In. I don't know how much they helped, but it was a really pleasant surprise how much War Rocket stuff we sold at Rock-Con.

The demos we run at the tables use this size of fleet: A class two and three class ones. Not a big game by any stretch of the imagination, but it gives people a feel for movement and the game's combat and initiative mechanics.

I'm showing the engines in most of these pics to show you an idea I had during the painting. Namely that painting the engine glow a color the opposite or near opposite on the color wheel of the main hull color helps the rear of the ship really pop.

I decided to leave the engines of the Zenithians a pure black though, the orange working much nicer on the bridges of the ships.

After Fall-In I'll come back and give final touch ups to the demo fleets. For the Zenithians this will include a gloss varnish over the cockpits and dirtying up the hulls some more. I like the idea of the aliens having dirty/crusty hulls and gleaming weapons and propeller rings.

The Valkeeri designs I didn't really like when I first saw them. However, now that I've painted some though they're really starting to grow on me. I like the way they maneuver in the game as well; while they can forget about complicated turns they can do fun things the Imperials and Galacteers can't.

Again you can see that using opposing colors for engine glow really make the back of this Class 3 pop.

The painting of the Galacteers and Imperials basically involved a couple watered down coats of Games Workshop's Foundation paints followed by a Vallejo wash. For the Imperials it was mostly a glaze to get the metallic gold areas working, (even with a couple of coats the gold I use tends to be pale) and painted the red hull areas over again to even out the color. However I left much of the surface area of the Galacteer ships with the raw results of the wash to leave them feeling a bit grimy and used, especially the Class 3.

The ships (and my paint jobs :) ) have gotten pretty universal compliments as I think they should. It is a very nice range and works pretty well even with a simple two tone paint job.

Dead Bronto

Here's Acheson Creation's Dead Sauropod from their Primaeval Designs line, showed in this pic with some of dad's Copplestone Castings dinosaurs for scale. The bronto is roughly eight to nine inches long and consequently somewhat difficult to take pictures of in detail.

However there is some very nice detail to see on this model. I'm pretty happy with how it came out (though I think it'd work better with a satin gloss on the bloody parts) and will be doing more for sale in the future. This one got snapped up at Rock-con.

Welcoming Toemerica Games

Today we are welcoming Toemerica Games to our lineup. Another little startup with something neat to offer; a miniature line called Workforce Heroes. The 'average joe' as militia, revolutionary, or just getting the job done. There's just the one model at present with choice of big spanner or shotgun, but we hope to help him get more out there soon.

Price of one fig $4.25 USD, set of five for $20. They'll go up on the online store as soon as we get back from Rock-Con.

Ramshackle Games Boring Machine

Painted Santa Sets In!

We've been a little busy getting ready for two shows in a row; Rock-Con and Fall-In. However we're happy to announce we've got the Santa's ready to go and have pics of the pre-painted ones above. They'll be priced at $18 a set ($10 a set unpainted) and should be just the thing for some Holiday horror themed gaming.

Also, between now and the show(s) I intend to post some pics of other painted stuff we'll have for sale, including a couple of Ramshackle Games Boring Machines and an Acheson Creations Dead Sauropod I just finished today. Holiday Special

We've had 100 sets of these printed for this holiday season, and when they're gone they're gone... until next year. Then they might be joined by something new, holiday themed, and maybe sci-fi or fantasyish. We haven't put alot of thought into what next year's bit might be.
